Still on the topic of Golf in JS Hotels’ Blog. Majorca has more than fifteen high-level clubs, most of which have 18-hole courses, among which we highlight the following: Vall d’Or Golf, Real Golf de Bendinat, Aucanada Golf Club, Club Pollensa, Canyamel Golf Club (which we mentioned earlier), etc.
Alcanada Golf Club
This 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. opened its doors in 2003. Located in the north of the Mediterranean island of Majorca, Alcanada is located beside the sea. The 6,499-metre-long course blends in with the natural shape of the typically Majorcan landscape. From most of the holes, we can see the island of Alcanada’s lighthouse, from which the club took inspiration when creating its logo. Players have a splendid sea view and, in addition, are surrounded by pine and olive groves. Although Alcanada is a newcomer in golf course terms, it has been recognised by a large number of golf magazines and guides as one of the best courses in Spain and Europe. The course is maintained to the highest standards and its greens, reconditioned in 2008, are fast, true and of an exceptional quality.
Robert Trent Junior was the designer of this magnificent golf course in Alcanada, which opened its doors on 1 October 2003. The typical sand traps designed by Trent Jones, such as the 58 bunkers on the sides of the greens and fairways, tough greens with hidden breaks and the hard but welcomed tee shots make this course a real favourite among the most experienced golfers travelling to Majorca.
