A sport that is becoming more and more popular on the islands is golf. The Balearic Islands are a real paradise for golf lovers. In seeking to promote winter tourism in the area by attracting those eager to play a ‘green’ sport, golf clubs have multiplied.
Majorca is becoming the meeting point for Northern Europe’s golfers who are not able to play in their respective countries between October and April, since their local golf courses and facilities are closed due to bad weather. With Palma only 2 hours away by plane and the island’s road network, golfers have easy access to their beloved sport.
Between September and October, and January and May, the Mediterranean climate is typically pleasant, with a few spells of spring-like weather. All of these make Majorca the ideal location to play golf.
This week, we will begin by telling you about:
CANYAMEL GOLF CLUB
The Canyamel Golf course, one of the most beautiful settings on the island, is located in north-western Majorca and has a wide range of golf-related services. José Cancedo designed this 18-hole (par 73) course with the philosophy of spoiling Majorca as little as possible, adapting the course’s design to fit the natural local landscape. The high quality of the greens and the fact that the course is suitable for players of all levels mean that playing in this golf course will be a great experience.
